What is a founder archetype?

A founder archetype is the pattern of motivation, temperament, and working style that shapes how someone builds. The thesis behind this tool, drawn from David Senra and Daniel Ek, is that there is no single mold for a great founder. Steve Jobs, Jensen Huang, and Demis Hassabis succeeded by being fully themselves, not by imitating anyone.

Knowing your archetype helps you chase founder/problem fit: the problem you are uniquely wired to solve. It is the difference between forcing yourself into someone else's playbook and building the company only you could build.

Frequently asked questions

What is a founder archetype?

A founder archetype is a recurring pattern of motivation, temperament, and working style that shapes how someone builds. Naming yours helps you lean into your natural strengths instead of copying whoever is currently famous.

Is this a personality test?

No. It is not a fixed assessment like Myers-Briggs. The tool reads what you write and names the founder archetypes you most resemble, then points to the kinds of problems you are built to solve.

Who are David Senra and Daniel Ek?

David Senra hosts the Founders Podcast, where he studies the lives of great founders. Daniel Ek is the founder and CEO of Spotify. The idea behind this tool grew out of their thinking that there is no single mold for a great founder.

How is founder/problem fit different from product/market fit?

Product/market fit is about a product matching a market. Founder/problem fit is about a person matching a problem. Demis Hassabis was uniquely built to start DeepMind. The goal is to find the problem only you are wired to solve.

Is my input stored?

No. Your answers are sent to an AI model to generate the analysis and are not saved. The only thing kept is an anonymous count of how many evaluations have run.
