Stimulation under control

A new rule has been put in place for myself. No phone access after 10:30pm, and no phone access before 10:00am.

Everyday I wake up, the first thing I reach for is my phone. Recently, my phone has been ringing for things that does not need my attention, and most times, it just sets the mood for the day. Which has not been good for a while now.

Today, I'm starting an experiment which I would go at it one day at a time. The experiment is super simple:

  1. My phone stays in my workspace room on the MagSafe charger.
  2. I go to my bedroom with my Kindle and reMarkable.
  3. No access to digital devices except for my Apple Watch (which I wear to bed to track my vitals).

Knowing me, first reflex from my brain would be that it would not like it. At all. It is quite overconfident like that. My brain tends to think that I can do anything I put my mind to. While it is true in most cases, I don't want my brain power to be spent on stupid scrolling.

I am being intentional these days to create a "calm mornings" experience for myself. This is step 1. One week at a time. Then one month. Then 3, 6 and 12 months.
